Plasmid Mediated Tolerance and Removal of Heavy Metals by Enterobacter sp
نویسنده
چکیده
Problem statement: The role of plasmid in the heavy metal resistance and accumulation by endophytic bacteria was investigated. Approach: The experimental results showed that high level plasmid mediated Cd and Zn resistance in this strain is due to decreased Cd and/or Zn uptake/accumulation by resistance strain. Results: Based on the fact that subsequent plasmid curing experiments demonstrated that the ability to grow in presence of Cdand Zn was encoded by the 98 kb plasmid, whereas the ability to grow in presence of Pb appeared to be encoded by the chromosome. The Cd and Zn removal capacity of the respective metal resistant strain (pBN4) were about 36 and 45 μg g DW respectively, while the removal capacity of the both metal by sensitive variant showed a significant high Cd and Zn removal capacity of 153 and 228 μg g DW respectively. Conclusion: The isolated endophytic Enterobacter was not only tolerant to heavy metals, but also bound considerable amount of heavy metals from the growth medium. The biosorbed order of the metals by parental strain and its cured derivatives strain based on the cell dry weight was found to be in the order of Pb> Zn>Cd.

Isolation and molecular characterization of bacteria to heavy metals isolated from soil samples in Bokaro Coal Mines, India
In recent years, environmental pollution by coal mining is a long-established human activity affecting all levels of life with various environmental impacts by generating heavy metals. The presence of heavy metals even in trace amount is toxic and detrimental to all living organisms. The coal mine area in Bokaro is one of the “Toxic Hotspot” in India. Bacteria have evolved uptake and efflux mec...

متن کاملIdentification of the fungi absorbing heavy metals isolated from waste deposits of zinc factories
The disposed wastes of zinc industries contain large amounts of heavy metals such as Pb2+ and Cd2+. These elements are considered as hazardous elements to human beings and other organisms. This study aims at introducing the fungal isolates that evolved to be compatible with waste deposits during the time and can absorb Pb2+ and Cd2+ions. During the spring and autumn in 2011, eight samples of se...
متن کاملLead and Cadmium Bioremoval by Halomonas sp., an Exopolysaccharide-Producing Halophilic Bacterium
Toxic heavy metals, such as lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) are widely used in industry and their accumulation in the living tissues may cause serious health problems and ecological hazards. Twenty four moderately halophilic bacteria isolated from saline environments of Iran were used to study their ability to bioremediation of lead and cadmium. Amongst them, a Gram-negative rod shaped bacterium, de...
متن کاملIsolation, Identification and Evaluation of Oil Hydrocarbon Decomposing Bacteria from Contaminated Areas of Oil Fields
Microbialbiodegradation is known as an effective and harmless method to overcome environmental pollution with oil hydrocarbon. Some bacterial species were isolated from the Sarvestan oilfields (Iran, Fars province), then identified and applied for oil hydrocarbon decomposition. A carbon-free minimum medium (CFMM) containing 1% crude oil was used to isolate bacteria through incubation at 30°C in...
